At the opening day of EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025, the workshop titled “Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks Unification Towards 6G” was successfully held, co-organized by NexaSphere Project Coordinator Babak Mafakheri (Safran Passenger Innovations) and Technical Manager Tomaso de Cola (DLR).

In collaboration with leading institutions including Safran Passenger InnovationsGerman Aerospace Center (DLR)European Space Agency (ESA)Eurescom GmbHUniversity of BolognaUniversity of Luxembourg, and Ericsson, the workshop explored the growing importance of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) in shaping the future 6G ecosystem.

As part of the session, Babak Mafakheri presented the NexaSphere project under the title: “Paving the Way Towards an NTN-Native 6G Ecosystem: The NexaSphere Approach”, highlighting the project’s vision and contributions toward unified TN/NTN connectivity in 6G.

The workshop also featured contributions from other key 6G NTN projects including 6G-NTN5G-STARDUSTETHERHexa-X-II, and ESA initiatives, showcasing strong European collaboration in driving innovation in 6G.

On the third day of the event, Tomaso de Cola chaired the special session on AURA-6G: “Towards an AI-native, Service-Oriented, Ubiquitous, and Verifiable 6G Integrated Fabric”.

During this session, NexaSphere partner Technische Universität Wien presented a paper authored by Milos Gravara, Andrija Stanisic, and Stefan Nastic, titled: “A Novel Compound AI Model for 6G Networks in the 3D Continuum”, offering groundbreaking insights into the integration of AI in next-generation networks.

Throughout the event, NexaSphere partner Software Radio Systems (SRS) exhibited their contributions at their booth, highlighting their role in advancing NexaSphere’s cutting-edge technology components.

Additionally, a NexaSphere project poster—provided by partner Eight Bells Ltd—was displayed on the ground floor. The poster showcased the project’s ambitious goals and the innovative enablers driving the evolution of connectivity beyond terrestrial limits.

To further extend the project’s outreach, the NexaSphere overview article has been published in the 2025 edition of the SNS Journal, providing a comprehensive summary of the project’s objectives, concepts, & Innovation, etc, which can be found at page 191 here: https://smart-networks.europa.eu/sns-journal-2025/
